Markus Hadulla - Pianist
Der in Köln geborene Pianist Markus Hadulla studierte bei Hartmut Höll in Karlsruhe, Anne Grappotte in Paris und Peter Frankl an der Yale University. Internationale Aufmerksamkeit erlangte er 1994 mit dem Preis für den besten Pianisten beim Internationalen Hugo-Wolf-Wettbewerb in Stuttgart. Seither ist er ein gefragter Liedpianist und Kammermusikpartner, geschätzt für sein nuancenreiches und farbiges Spiel. Er konzertierte mit renommierten Sänger:innen und Instrumentalist:innen in bedeutenden Häusern wie der Berliner Philharmonie, dem Concertgebouw Amsterdam, der Wigmore Hall London und der Carnegie Hall New York sowie bei internationalen Festivals. Markus Hadulla ist Professor für Liedgestaltung und Klavier Vokalbegleitung an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, gibt Meisterkurse weltweit und weist eine vielfach ausgezeichnete Diskographie auf.
Markus Hadulla studied at the University of music in Karlsruhe, at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, and at the Yale School of Music. In 1994, he received the pianist’s prize at the 7th International Hugo Wolf Competition in Stuttgart and was subsequently invited by Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau to join his Lied class in Berlin.
Hadulla has worked with a range of internationally recognized singers, including Sandrine Piau, Christianne Stotijn, Angelika Kirchschlager, and Udo Reinemann, as well as with leading younger artists such as Ilker Arcayürek, Samuel Hasselhorn, and Josy Santos. As part of the ECHO “Rising Stars” series with violist Antoine Tamestit, he has performed at major concert halls including Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Cologne Philharmonie, and the Lucerne Festival.
He was artistic director of the “wort+ton” concert series in Winnenden for over twenty years and served as artistic advisor to the Académie des Heures Romantiques in Touraine, France. He currently holds a professorship in Lied interpretation and vocal accompaniment at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw) and teaches regularly at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano. He has also given masterclasses at institutions including the CNSM Paris, the Chopin University in Warsaw, the Royal College in London, and Tokyo University of the Arts.
His recordings (Claves, Naxos, Audite, Sony Classical, among others) have received awards such as the Diapason d’or and the German Record Critics’ Prize. In 2024, he and mezzo-soprano Josy Santos were awarded Brazil’s Prêmio Concerto and Prêmio APCA for Best Lied Recital.
